Coming back to haunt me...

I knew eventually that the constant teasing about the weather would come back to haunt me. Arizona is in the grips of freeze warnings... (yes, I said freeze warnings). The heat is officially turned on in the apartment and the fireplace is blazing. The temps are dipping into the low 30s for the next few days thanks to the storms coming out of California and a dip in the jetstream. The reason I am bringing this up should be obvious... guess who signed up to work overnight shifts OUTSIDE tonight, tomorrow and Sunday? Low tonight- 31, Friday- 34 and Sunday- 36. Weather payback is a bitch. So, I am digging through my cold weather gear and am ready to suit up for a "long winter's night". But don't be laughing too hard. The days will still be sunny and this weather too shall pass faster than winter back where y'all are... and there will be plenty of time for me to thaw in between shifts. And company #2 is back in full swing starting next Wednesday with three 12 hour shifts (with more to come) at the Convention Center. Wednesday is the Arizona Home and Garden show and then I'm working the (gulp!) Bridal Expo... (gosh, I hope don't catch anything!). Can you imagine what that show is going to be like... (Bridezillas on steroids comes to mind). I will bring plenty of Benadryl and Calamine in case I break out in hives.

So work is back in full gear... (which is good because the camera AND the laptop weren't cheap, but I deserve it). I will be spending New Years Eve in the cold outside of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale... (which is good because my shift runs 8pm to 8am and I won't have to deal with the partygoers on the road). There will be a celebration across the street at Westgate with 11 couples getting married tomorrow night (great to start the New Year--o boy!). And a party so I will probably be busy keeping drunks from eyeballing the Fiesta Bowl Block Party tents and such. Maybe I'll chase a few to keep warm.

The J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets surprised the crap out of me by winning at Pittsburgh (sorry, Bob) and then losing an exciting game (where's the pass rush, Rex?) in Chicago and backing into the playoffs (thanks, Jacksonville). I have no predictions on where they will go from here. I'm just glad that they made the playoffs. Well, I'm off to pack some food and water for tonight and gather up my long johns and boots and hats and gloves... (so glad I didn't get rid of all of it). It'll be a cold night in Glendale...
