Never get me down...it's raining today! It's been almost a month to the day since our last shower out here...(unlike the freak snowstorm that hit the Northeast earlier this week. Serves you right for living in Buffalo). It is deliciously cool and windy and all the windows are open. This may be the last opportunity to do this because we are right back in the 90's this weekend. We had a couple of 100 degree days this week...(a little early even for me). But overall it is still my favorite time of year.
After the "vampire" incident, I was considering how the heck I could top that, but then I remembered that Phoenix Comicon is coming Memorial day weekend! Geek Fest 2012 is a "can you top this" event with wacky costumes and even wackier costume wearers. The march of the pasty white people (coming out of Mom's basement for the first time since last year) is an annual event here and gets bigger every year. My favorite is the "Zombie Parade" through the streets of downtown...(those who live in NY can see this every weekend as the after hour clubs let out at 10am). The detail that some of the attendees put in their costumes is truly amazing and a little scary at the same time. The "peace bonding" table is usually packed, putting ziptie bonds on all the light sabers (Star Wars) and machine guns (Tour of Duty) and various other "weapons" that are allowed in the event. Scheduled this year is both Captains of the enterprise: William Shatner and Patrick Stewart (Kirk and Picard). No offense to Captains Janeway and whoever Scott Bakula played but Star Trek is Kirk and Picard. (OMG, my inner geek is coming to the surface...fazers on stun!). Should be a great time...
On the personal front, next week I will be in Las Vegas enjoying a free 3 day 2 night stay compliments of my timeshare company...(free, as in I must attend a one hour "beg fest", I mean owner's update). But still, a free stay is worth an hour of my time. Let me practice for next week..."No, no thank you, no, I have enough points, no, no, no... okay, I think I'm ready. Probably going to rent a car and keep my Jeep home. Speaking of which, after turning 172,000 miles, the Jeep is running beautifully still. Found a great hand wash car wash...(can't run it through the machines because the drivers door lets in a waterfall ever since the door was re-welded) and my mechanic is phenomenal. I would love for baby to hit 200,000 and beyond. It would be 2 cars in a row for me...(my little Saturn coupe, aka the Batmobile, made it to 203,000 before finally giving up the ghost). Barring any "haboob" damage (dust storm) or some idiot crashing into me (a more likely scenario), it looks like a good possibility.
So, I am going out on the balcony to enjoy the rain and cool weather...then I am going to set up a tee time (or two) for tomorrow. One month until golf prices plummet and the weather heats up...
