After working the Cardinals-Green Bay on Sunday in Glendale, I was scheduled to work the Fiesta Bowl on Monday for five hours. I thought I was going to work the outside tailgate party, but I when I signed in I was taken to the VIP pre-game party in the Renaissance Hotel. I was a roaming security guard in the Grand Ballroom making sure the patrons didn't have too good a time. There were games and food and each schools band and cheerleaders performed for the crowd. DJ music played the whole time and it was a really nice gig... (anything inside walking on padded carpeting is a great gig!). My partner met a friend of his from the gym he belongs to and he told him to come by before our shift was over...he might have something for him. So when our shift was winding down we met up with him again and he hands my partner a ticket to the game. Then my partner hands me one (the guy gave him two) and says enjoy the game. Sweet! free ticket ($175) to the battle of unbeatens. The supervisor let us leave a little early, I went to the car and changed...(always keep clothes in the car) and then went in a watched the game! Took some pictures with the camera phone and I will post them on Facebook when I can... But the best part of the gig was that I got to meet the guy who schedules security to walk with the golfers at the Waste Management Phoenix Open (formerly the FBR) and I may be given a chance to do that...
Called today to try and work the playoff game this Sunday with the Packers again... I'll know more when they call me back later... Speaking of playoffs--how about them Jets! I must admit that like thousands of other Jet fans (maybe all of them) I was waiting for them to shoot themselves in the foot and lose to Cinncinnati. But I didn't expect them to dominate the game like they did. It was the most fun I've had watching a Jet game in a long time. We never have the game wrapped up early where we can cruise at the end of the game. Really looking forward to Saturday's game in Cinncinnati. Oh, and by the way Ochocinco--SHUT UP! Darelle Revis owned you Sunday and will do the same this week. No excuses. And if that's the way you "back" into the playoffs, then I want to do it this way every year...
